Lavrov says he asked Kerry about information on possibility of U.S. strikes at Syrian facilities
MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov asked the United States Secretary of State John Kerry how true is information on possible U.S. cruise missile strikes at the Syrian facilities during a conversation on October 5, Lavrov said.
"I had a telephone conversation with Kerry yesterday, and asked him how true are the reports of the certain American media that Washington is considering the options of delivering cruise missile strikes on the airports used by the Syrian air forces," he said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.
"When a cruise missile is in flight, it is probably very difficult to understand at once where it is aimed at. That is why precaution will not hurt after all, but I will repeat: both S-300 and S-400 are strictly defensive weapons, which do not threaten anyone," he said.
