Chechen children should practice martial arts like real men - Kadyrov's spokesman

MOSCOW. Oct 6 (Interfax) - Alvi Karimov, spokesman for Russia's Chechen Republic head Ramzan Kadyrov, expressed his opinion for widely-discussed topic of involvement of children in practicing martial arts on Instagram on Thursday.

"Worthy grandchildren of the best son of the Motherland, the first Chechen Republic President and Hero of Russia Akhmad-Khaji Kadyrov, sons of the Chechen Republic head and Hero of Russia Ramzan Kadyrov, Akhmad, Eli and Adam. They, as befits of real Chechen men, practice sports form a young age and have excellent skills in karate, judo and boxing," Karimov wrote.

He said that Kadyrov's children won the competitions in Grozny and other Russian cities. "The boys help their peers train. They said that they are capable of training even adult martial artists, especially if they have a screw loose," he said.

On October 4, Kadyrov posted on Instagram a fragment of the Match-TV channel broadcast featuring a performance of his son Zelimkhan, aged nine, at the Grand Prix Akhmat-2016 mixed martial arts tournament in Grozny.

"The fight between Eli "the Panther" Kadyrov and Daniil Shalak in an exhibition performance of the junior group was very interesting," Kadyrov said adding that his son won the match.

Meanwhile, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that a mixed martial arts match between young children broadcast on television, during which one of its participants was been knocked out, is a reason for the supervision agencies to turn attention to this issue.

In turn, the press service for Russian presidential children's rights commissioner Anna Kuznetsova told Interfax that she will verify information on mixed martial arts competitions among children.
