Putin, Erdogan discussed possibility of cooperating on Aleppo situation

ISTANBUL. Oct 10 (Interfax) - At the Russian-Turkish talks the parties discussed the situation in Syria, in particular, a cooperation strategy to ensure humanitarian access to Aleppo, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

"The Syria issue was considered in multiple ways. We considered the issue relating to Operation Euphrates Shield. We assessed how we can cooperate on this area," Erdogan told a joint press conference after the talks on Monday.

"We particularly talked about what strategy we can choose for ourselves so as to help, from the humanitarian point of view, the residents who are in a very difficult situation, in particular, in the Aleppo city," the Turkish president said.

Relevant instructions have been issued to "our relevant authorities" on these matters, he said.

"Our relevant authorities will be discussing [cooperation], in particular between our military, our intelligence agencies, our foreign ministries, maintain contact and choose a strategy as a result," Erdogan said.
