Putin: Moscow dismayed over Washington's desire to move al-Nusra beyond terrorist organizations
MOSCOW. Oct 12 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States of the desire to move Jabhat al-Nusra [banned in Russia] beyond the ranks of terrorist organizations and use it for fight against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
At that, Putin noted that acting this way the U.S. keeps making the same mistake and forgetting that terrorists cannot be forced to live in a civilized manner.
"We are simply dismayed and baffled over that our partners in Washington are trying to move it [Jabhat al-Nusra] beyond terrorist organizations," Putin said in an interview with French TF1 channel, recalling that al-Nusra was always considered as "Al-Qaeda's wing and is included on the UN list of terrorist organizations."
This way Putin replied to a comment of a French journalist that not ISIL [banned in Russia], which had organized terror attacks in France, is subjected to bombings in Syria.
Putin consequently explained Washington's stand regarding Jabhat al-Nusra: "I believe, our partners keep making the same mistakes. They want to use combat potential of these terrorist organizations and radicals to achieve political goals, in this case for a fight against President al-Assad and his government."
However, Putin said, Washington "does not understand that they will not succeed in, the saying goes, stalling them and forcing them to live under civilized rules."
