'Scorched earth' tactic used by U.S. in relations with Russia is dangerous - Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Oct 13 (Interfax) - The Barack Obama Administration seems to be using the "scorched earth" tactic in its relations with Russia, which is very dangerous, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing in Moscow on Thursday.
"The feeling is growing that the outgoing U.S. administration is using the scorched earth tactic in our bilateral relations. This is a very dangerous policy," Zakharova said.
This tactic is fraught with negative consequences for international stability, and "no good will come out of all this," she said.
"In any case, nobody should cherish the illusion that Russia can be pressured - either the incumbent American authorities or those to come in their stead," she said, adding that, hopefully, "the new ones will be wiser than the previous ones."
