Chinese leader invites Putin to step up coordination in UN to make world order fairer

GOA, India. Oct 15 (Interfax) - Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to step up coordination between the two countries within the UN and other international organizations.

"As UN Security Council members and leading countries, we should step up our coordination and interaction within the framework of multilateral institutions," Xi said while meeting with Putin in Goa, where a BRICS summit is to start on Sunday.

"Key issues should be addressed through coordination between you and us, so that our combined efforts help ensure a fairer and more reasonable world order," he said.

The Chinese leader called Putin his old friend.

The Russian president said he was happy to meet again with his Chinese counterpart on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.

He said contacts between Russia and China on the top political level and on the level of their governments, ministries, and companies are developing very intensively.
