Humanitarian pause starts in Syria's Aleppo

MOSCOW. Oct 20 (Interfax-AVN) - A humanitarian pause has begun in the Syrian city of Aleppo in order to evacuate sick and wounded people and allow civilians, as well as armed groups to leave the city.

"The humanitarian pause will be put into place starting from 8 a.m., on October 20, in Aleppo, for the free passage of civilians, evacuation of sick and injured people and the withdrawal of militants from the eastern districts of the city," head of the Main Operation Department of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Lieut. Gen. Sergei Rudskoi said on Wednesday.

"Following multiple requests from the representatives of the international organizations it was decided to extend the humanitarian pause by another three hours until 7 p.m.," Rudskoi said.
