Sanctions won't extend to Nord Stream 2, project company says

VERONA. Oct 20 (Interfax) - The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project is unlikely to be subject to sanctions, Ulrich Lissek, Nord Stream AG Communications Director, said at the Fifth Eurasian Forum in Verona.

"Nord Stream 2 is seen in Berlin as a purely commercial project. From what we have heard from the economy and foreign ministries, and from the Chancellor, there are no ideas about putting Nord Stream under sanctions for political reasons. There are those among the Christian Democrats and Greens who are unhappy about the project, but I think we'll never be subject to sanctions," Lissek said.
