Georgia's ex-deputy ambassador to U.S. appointed National Security Council Secretary
TBILISI. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili on Monday appointed Davit Rakviashvili National Security Council Secretary.
"David Rakviashvili has substantial experience in security, he served as deputy state minister for reintegration, participated in the Geneva talks on stability and security in the Caucasus," Margvelashvili said at a briefing on Monday.
Rakviashvili has substantial experience in liaising with representatives from the United States and Russia, he said.
Prior to this appointment Rakviashvili served as Georgian deputy ambassador to the U.S.
The office of the Georgian National Security Council Secretary became vacant after its holder Irina Imerlishvili became Georgian Constitutional Court judge upon Margvelashvili's nomination in October of this year.
