Sukhum, Tiraspol agree on visa-free travel
SUKHUM. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Abkhazian foreign minister Daur Kove and his Transdniestrian counterpart Vitaly Ignatyev signed an intergovernmental agreement to introduce visa-free travel in Sukhum on Tuesday, an Interfax correspondent reported.
The ministers also signed an agreement, entitled "On the mutual recognition and equivalence of educational and/or qualification documents, academic degrees and titles, academic certificates."
After signing the document, Abkhazia's minister of education and science Adgur Kakoba said it would allow students and teachers to study and work in Transdniestria and Abkhazia without additional documentation.
After the document signing Kove said the visit by the Transdniestrian delegation demonstrates the strength of the relations the two countries have established. "This is a good indicator of our republics' readiness to further develop our contacts. Your visit will facilitate more serious consolidation of the bilateral cooperation and lend good impetus to the development of the bilateral relations. For Abkhazia, Transdniestria has always been and will be a reliable partner to rely on," Kove said.
For his part, Ignatyev said that "for all the difficulties Transdniestria experiences, not least on account of Moldova's efforts to limit our contacts, we will find a way to develop our relations."
