Last winter's halt to power supply from Ukraine to Crimea criminal - Putin

YALTA. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the discontinuation by Ukraine of power supplies to Crimea last winter "a crime against humans" and expressed bewilderment that international human rights organization never voiced their reaction.

"As it regards the discontinuation of water supply, or this situation around the power supply cut-off - this of course, borders on crime against humananity. To cut off power supplies, in the winter, to a large region where a several million people live - you know, it's such a thing," Putin said at a Russian People's Front forum in Yalta.

"And for some reason, human rights organizations fell silent and are keeping mum," the president said. "But in reality, it is a serious crime. What about hospitals? And children? And the elderly? Everyone is silent as if it's how it should be. But nevermind, after all," he said.
