Kazakhstan ratifies agreement on strategic partnership with Tajikistan

ASTANA. Oct 31 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law 'On Ratification of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Tajikistan'," the Kazakh presidential press service said on Monday.

The Kazakhstan-Tajikistan strategic partnership agreement was signed on September 14, 2015 in Dushanbe, the Tajik capital.

The agreement states that the countries will build their relations on the basis of equality, mutual trust, and strategic partnership.

Should a situation arise such as is capable of having an adverse impact on the countries' mutual security interests or the security interests of one of them, the two countries will engage a mechanism of consultations, via mutual consent, to align their positions and coordinate practical measures on settlement of such a situation, the document says.

The parties to the agreement will undertake all measures necessary to enhance and expand their mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, including diversification of trade composition, and create all appropriate beneficial conditions for this.

The two countries will cooperate in the military and military-technical fields, and in civil defense, also encouraging their cooperation in sciences and technology, healthcare and culture, tourism and sports, according to the agreement.
