Over 1 mln displaced persons from Donbas, Crimea registered in Kyiv, other Ukrainian regions - State Emergency Service of Ukraine

KYIV. Nov 1 (Interfax) - Residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as residents of Crimea continue to apply for assistance to Ukraine's Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters and regional headquarters and more than one million have already been registered with the headquarters, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine press service said in a release on Tuesday.

Of 1,052,999 temporarily accommodated persons, almost 175,000 are children and more than 500,500 are either disabled or elderly. More than 1,030,000 applications came from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine and more than 22,500 from Crimea and Sevastopol, Kyiv said.

The Ukrainian state agency also said in the release that special attention was being paid to the matter of psychological adaptation of those people staying in temporary accommodation. Overall, almost 174,000 forcibly displaced persons, including 48,500 children and almost 30,000 disabled or elderly people received psychological assistance from psychologists of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and specialists invited by other government authorities and social organizations, the Ukrainian state agency said.

Members of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society also take part in work with displaced persons, it said.
