Russia reduces grain exports almost 42% in October - AgMin
MOSCOW. Nov 8 (Interfax) - Russian grain exports fell by 41.8% in October in comparison to September.
In October exports totaled 2.693 million tonnes with a value of $439.9 million, down from 4.632 million tonnes at $731.8 million value in September.
In particular, supplies of wheat fell to 1.997 million tonnes in October from 3.747 million tonnes in September, while rye fell to 60,000 tonnes from 140,900 tonnes, barley to 159,494 tonnes from 466,526 tonnes.
Exports of corn grew to 516,930 from 406,690 tonnes, rice rose to 11,985 tonnes from 9,799 tonnes while buckwheat and smut grew to 6,624 tonnes from 1,546 tonnes.
In the 4M of the current agriculture year from July to September Russia exported 12.799 million tonnes of grain.
The Agriculture Ministry has reduced its grain forecast for the current agriculture from July 2016 to June 2017 from the previous 40 million tonnes to 35 million tonnes, including wheat from 30 million tonnes to 28 million tonnes. In the previous agriculture year, exports totaled 33.9 million tonnes.
A number of grain market experts have also lowered their initial optimistic forecasts for grain exports.
