Moldova may set example of settling territorial problems for Ukraine, Georgia under new president - Duma deputy

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - After Igor Dodon takes office as new Moldovan president, Moldova may set a good example of solving its territorial and constitutional problems for Ukraine and Georgia, head of the Russian State Duma committee on CIS affairs Leonid Kalashnikov said.

"If Moldova resolves its territorial conflict in Transdniestria based on a confederation principle, and at the same time develops relations with us, this could serve as an example to follow for Georgia and Ukraine," Kalashnikov told journalists on Wednesday.

"If this can be done in a country bordering the EU, the same may be replayed in Ukraine," because "the problems there are the same, namely, a territorial structure, constitution, and economy," Kalashnikov said.
