Russian strategic bombers deliver strikes at militants in Syria
MOSCOW. Nov 17 (Interfax) - Russian Aerospace Force's strategic bombers delivered cruise missile strikes on militants of ISIL and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist groups [banned in Russia] in the territory of Syria on Thursday, Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax.
"Air-launched cruise missile launches were carried out from an area over the Mediterranean Sea," the ministry said.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that aircraft took off from an airfield in the territory of Russia and, having conducted two in-flight refueling, covered over 11,000km.
"The route of bombers ran above the areas of the northern seas and the Eastern Atlantic," the ministry said.
Russian Defense Ministry said that aircraft returned to home airfield following delivering missile strikes.
