Two medical nurses from Russia's Birobidzhan killed in Aleppo attack
KHABAROVSK. Dec 6 (Interfax) - Two medical nurses from Birobidzhan, Russia's Jewish Autonomous Region, were killed in Monday's attack by militants on a Russian mobile hospital in the Syrian city of Aleppo.
"Two medical nurses from a military hospital in the city of Birobidzhan were killed," director of the Birobidzhan hospital's administration Vitaly Krasovsky told Interfax.
These women and another two people were sent to Syria on November 30. The group of medics had worked in Syria earlier in 2016 and had safely returned home after spending three months there.
Both women were around 40 years old and both were survived by their children, Krasovsky said.
"The hospital head has gone to Moscow to collect the bodies. The funeral will be organized on December 8-9. The issue concerning the cemetery, burial service and guard of honor is being decided," he said.
The other two medics from the Birobidzhan hospital continue working in Syria, he said.
It was reported that militants attacked a Russian mobile military hospital in the Syrian city of Aleppo on December 5. A Russian female military medic was killed when a mine fired by militants directly hit the hospital's reception. Another two medics were injured, and one of them subsequently died from her injuries. Some local residents who came to the hospital were also injured.
A delay with buses stopped tens of Syrian children with their mothers from Aleppo's eastern districts liberated from militants from being present at the hospital's reception at the time of the attack.
