Matviyenko calls for denying support to 'good or moderate' terrorists

ABU DHABI. Dec 12 (Interfax) - Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko has called for an end to the division of terrorists into 'good and bad' and the practice of supplying them with weapons.

"It is necessary to finally stop dividing terrorists into good and bad, moderate, and supplying them with weapons and money," Matviyenko said at a forum of female parliament speakers in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

Instead of fighting the common enemy together, an information war has been waged on Russia and it has been accused of breaching international law, Matviyenko said, adding that the attitude to Russia's stance on Syria was also hostile.

"A turn has been achieved in the Syria situation thanks to the active efforts of Russia taken at the request of the lawful Syrian government. A substantial part of the country's territory has been freed from terrorists. A concert, Praying for Palmyra, was given by a Russian symphony orchestra at an ancient amphitheater, which was partially destroyed by the terrorists, in the freed ancient Palmyra in March of this year. Unfortunately, terrorists keep trying to take over the city, and fierce fighting is now in progress," Matviyenko said.

On the orders of the president, airmobile hospitals have been rapidly deployed in direct proximity to refugee camps to help the civilian population, she said.

"Two Russian female doctors have recently died in a terrorist attack on a Russian hospital, a pediatrician has suffered heavy injuries and locals have also been hurt. This is another demonstration of the brutish nature of the terrorists who stop at nothing in their crimes," Matviyenko said.
