GUAM prime ministers to discuss transport corridor in Kyiv

BAKU. Dec 15 (Interfax) - The prime ministers of GUAM member countries - Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova - will hold negotiations in Kyiv, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said.

"A meeting at the level of prime ministers [of GUAM countries] will make a large contribution to the development of the transport corridor," Mammadyarov said at the opening ceremony of the GUAM Parliamentary Assembly's session in Baku on Thursday.

In his words, the meeting was initiated by Ukraine.

"The meeting at the prime minister level is a wonderful idea. The issue was discussed in Hamburg; unfortunately, we could not organize the meeting within the framework of our presidency, but I am sure that Georgia is interested in holding the meeting in a GUAM country. As this is a Ukrainian initiative, it will probably be held in that country," the minister said.

He also said that Azerbaijan had passed the GUAM presidency to Georgia.
