Nazarbayev supports EAEU-Iran cooperation
ASTANA. Dec 22 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan supports the Iranian aspiration for interacting with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
"We have agreed to bolster political contacts at such international organizations as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Iranian aspiration for interacting within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. Iran has declared it, and we, for our part, are ready to back up this striving," Nazarbayev said in a joint statement with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Astana on Thursday.
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will converge on December 26 to discuss the expediency of a free trade zone agreement with Iran.
