Kremlin determined to consistently fight corruption, warns against unsubstantiated accusations

MOSCOW. Dec 22 (Interfax) - Law enforcement agencies should counteract corruption in a continuous and consistent way, but an ill-advised information policy could harm people who have not yet been found guilty, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Definitely, the activities that have been undertaken [...] against corruption should be public, but they should be much more discrete. This is dictated both by the subject's seriousness and the level of people on whom suspicion sometimes falls," Peskov said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.

Russian President Vladimir Putin "has said that this needs to be done consistently, without losing momentum," he said.

"However, this shouldn't be made an open secret so as not to cause damage to someone in the course of this campaign, considering that, after all, only a court can find people guilty of certain crimes," Peskov said.
