Rogozin dubs successful missions as primary objective of space industry

MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - Successful missions should be a primary objective for the Russian rocket and space industry in 2017, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at the final meeting of the Vostochny project commission in 2016.

"Every one of us is perfectly aware of the importance of space activity for the nation. Any shortcomings, any failures are not just corporate shortcomings or failures; the entire country shares this pain, as all of Russia cares for the space industry. It's of paramount importance to make missions successful and to create a stable orbital cluster, which will present new technological opportunities to Russia," the deputy prime minister said.

He explained that he means communications, remote sensing technology, modern television and "a feeling of full control, safe control over the colossal, huge infrastructure of Russia's economy."

The development of transit and energy capacities in the Arctic region is a special task, he said. "These are our prospects, our vast wealth," he said, urging all employees of the rocket and space industry to work as a single team next year and to make the country proud of its successes in space exploration again.
