Ruble slightly strengthens against dollar, stable against euro on Wednesday evening amid oil price rebound

MOSCOW. Jan 4 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar slightly weakened against the Russian ruble, and the euro was stable at the MOEX on Wednesday evening; the ruble has slightly strengthened against the bicurrency basket due to a nascent price rebound on global oil trading floors after a significant slump the day before.

The dollar ended the MOEX trading day at 60.605 rubles/$1 as of 6:50 p.m. Moscow time, which is 29.75 kopecks down from Tuesday close. The euro closed up 2.75 kopecks at 63.4375 rubles/EUR1.

The average weighted dollar rate was up 4.36 kopecks from Tuesday at 60.8166/$1 in Tomorrow deals as of 6:50 p.m. Moscow time. Trading combined to only $1.665 billion.

The average weighted euro rate was up 11.12 kopecks from Tuesday at 63.4624 rubles/EUR1. Trading combined to EUR56.475 million.

The RUONIA, MosPrime Rate, RUREPO, ROISFIX, and NFEA FX Swap rates are not calculated during the New Year's and Christmas holidays from December 31, 2016 through January 8, 2017.
