Russia resumes chemical weapons disposal - Gen. Kapashin
IZHEVSK. Jan 12 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has destroyed 96.4% of its toxic agent stockpiles as of today, and the disposal process has now been resumed, the director of the Russian Federal Department for Safe Storage and Disposal of Chemical Weapons, Col. Gen. Valery Kapashin, told Interfax-AVN on Thursday.
"The process of disposing of warfare toxic agents in the Russian Federation was resumed at the last facility in the village of Kizner, Republic of Udmurtiya, from January 12, 2017," he said.
A total of 96.4% of the country's chemical weapons stockpiles, or "38,528 tonnes of toxic agents", have been destroyed as of today, he said.
