Russian military base in Kyrgyzstan to cost $4.5 mln per year

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Russia will pay Kyrgyzstan $4.5 million per year for hosting its military base, according to the parties' agreement.

Under the document, published on the official legal information portal, Russia will be using a communications center over an 811.2-hectare area and a testing base and part of the water in Lake Issyk-Kul.

"The annual fee for the use by Russia of the land plots and the water part shall amount to an equivalent of 4,502,495 U.S. dollars," according to the document.

All Russian military formations based in Kyrgyzstan shall have the status of a joint military base unit, the document said, without disclosing troop numbers.
