Nazarbayev orders to implement joint investment program with China to set up plants in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has ordered the government of the country to implement efficiently the joint investment program with China to set up plants in Kazakhstan.

"It is necessary to efficiently implement the joint investment program with China in creation of plants in Kazakhstan. Agreements with the Chinese side were reached. The objects were determined. We need to work specifically," Nazarbayev said in his annual address to the Kazakh nation.

The text of the address was published on the presidential website on Monday.

"Those will be modern plants creating about 20,000 new jobs for Kazakhstanis," the president said.

According to the president, six projects began to be implemented in Kazakhstan to date, and two projects were already launched. One of them is a semi-knocked down assembly plant of JAC hybrid and all-electric cars.

"I order to elaborate on the issue of a further development of production of export-oriented electric cars, including the creation of necessary infrastructure. Overall, Kazakhstan needs its own investment strategy. The government must prepare it before September 1, 2017," Nazarbayev said.
