Armenia seeks broader defense cooperation with Iran - defense minister

YEREVAN. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Yerevan seeks to expand defense cooperation with Tehran, Armenian Defense Minister Vigen Sarkisyan said.

"Armenia wants to expand defense cooperation with Iran and to increase the level of bilateral relations. I am certain that this visit will promote further cooperation," Sarkisyan said at a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Hosein Dehqan in Tehran on Tuesday.

Armenian media, citing the Iranian Defense Ministry's press service, reported that Dehqan noted that Tehran thinks it is unacceptable to use force in solving regional problems.

"It is unacceptable to use force in solving regional problems. Their solutions should come only through peaceful means, through negotiations. Iran will spare no effort in this area," Dehqan said.
