Moscow to study IBU proposal to move 2021 biathlon world championship from Tyumen - Russian Sports Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The Russian Sports Ministry, jointly with the Russian Biathlon Union, will examine, from a legal point of view, an International Biathlon Union (IBU) proposal that the Biathlon World Championships 2021 be moved from Tyumen, Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov told Interfax.

"We need a couple of days to study the legal grounds for this decision. We will be considering this proposal jointly with the federation," Kolobkov said.

It emerged earlier that at its extraordinary congress in Hochfilzen, Austria, the IBU decided to propose that the Russian Biathlon Union abandon plans to host the 2021 world championship by February 24. Otherwise, the IBU could annul Russia's title to host the tournament in Tyumen.
