Lavrov congratulates Russian diplomats on professional day
MOSCOW. Feb 10 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry is working on bolstering healthy approaches on the international arena and does not try to impose anything on anyone or to seek unilateral profit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We are celebrating it [Diplomat's Day] for the 15th time this year. Today, we are paying honor to our predecessors, their merits in strengthening Russian statehood and in promoting Russia's position on the international arena," Lavrov said in a statement on the occasion of Diplomat's Day published on the Russian Foreign Ministry's website on Friday.
"Being guided by the foreign political concept approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Foreign Ministry will continue to assist the creation of the most favorable conditions for ensuring security and the development of our country and the wellbeing of our citizens. To these ends we are working on the bolstering of healthy approaches on the international arena, the development of integration processes on the Eurasian space, and the political settlement of crises and conflicts on the basis of the UN Charter," Lavrov said.
"We are not imposing anything on anyone. We are not teaching anyone how to live. We are not trying to gain unilateral advantages," he said.
"Russia has consistently been speaking for respect for sovereignty and the right of peoples to decide their futures themselves," Lavrov said. "Only on the basis of equality can one attain unification of efforts in the fight against challenges and threats common to all mankind, primarily the threat of international terrorism," he said.
