Ukrainian president enacts decision on measures to eliminate threats to cyber security

KYIV. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed a decree, which enacts the National Security and Defense Council's decision dated December 29, 2016 regarding the threats to cyber security of the state and urgent measures to ward them off.

The February 13 presidential decree comes into effect since the day it was published.

As reported, Poroshenko said at the National Security and Defense Council meeting on December 29, 2016 that roughly 6,500 plotted cyber attacks had been uncovered over the past two months at the facilities of five agencies and 31 state information resources, the investigation has found out the complicity of the Russian special services in several incidents.

The National Security and Defense Council has touched upon the issue of undertaking urgent measures to foster the cyber protection system and cyber security and has instructed the government to take immediate measures to upgrade the relevant system, providing for its appropriate legislative, organizational and resource support.
