Poll: 84% of Russians satisfied with Putin as president

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - As many as 84% of Russians are satisfied with the work of Vladimir Putin as the president of Russia, while 15% are dissatisfied, Interfax was told at the Levada Center sociological service.

The work of Dmitry Medvedev as prime minister has the sympathies of 52% of respondents and the disapproval of 47%.

Russians are divided in their evaluation of the work of the Cabinet: 49% said they are satisfied with it and 49% that they are not.

Meanwhile, 42% of respondents support the work of the State Duma and 57% don't.

Also 52% are satisifed with their governors (in Moscow - the mayor) and 46% are not.

Respondents were also asked to name five-six politicians or public figures they trust most.

The top three of the popularity rating remained unchanged: Putin was first with 52%; Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov shared second place with 22% each.

They were followed by Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky (14%), Medvedev (12%), Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov (9%), head of the Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill and leader of A Just Russia party Sergei Mironov (4% each), Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin (3% each).

Meanwhile, 17% of respondents didn't trust any Russian politicians and 15% said they are not interested in politics.

In the opinion of 53% of respondents, things in Russia are generally going in the right direction; 31% held the opposite point of view and 16% were undecided.

The poll was conducted on February 17-20 in 137 cities and towns in 48 regions of Russia and involved 1,600 adults aged 18 and more. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
