Most components of draft convention on legal status of Caspian Sea approved - Lavrov
MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Experts continue the work on determining the waters under the sovereignty of each Caspian state, which is part of the work on a draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
There are many possible methods, he said.
"Most components of the draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea have been approved, experts continue working on the remaining issues. There are not so many of them, and one of the main ones is the determination of the waters under the sovereignty of each state," Lavrov said following negotiations with Azeri Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Moscow on Monday.
"There is a whole number of possible methods that can be used. And we agree that the method that will eventually be chosen should meet the principle of justice as much as possible so that none of the five Caspian states feels hurt. I believe we can achieve a result in that," he said.
