ASTANA. March 17 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is happy to assist the Syrian crisis settlement process and the agreements reached in its framework, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
"Currently this Syrian process, the third round of talks is taking place. The biggest thing we should be glad about is that it is in Astana, precisely in Astana, that they agreed have to cease fire," Nazarbayev said in an interview with national media outlets, broadcast on state television channels on Friday evening.
"We encourage such talks and we are for this war to be over. It [Syria] is our close neighbor, our trading platform, we want to be surrounded by peace," the president said.
