Russia records 3 ceasefire violations in Syria in past 24 hours - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia recorded three ceasefire violations in Syria in the past 24 hours, while Turkey recorded 11, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The Russian part of the joint Russian-Turkish commission dealing with violations of the joint agreement recorded three ceasefire violations in Syria's Damascus governorate in the past 24 hours. The Turkish part recorded 11 ceasefire violations, including two in the Damascus governorate, two in the Daraa governorate, three in the Hama governorate, two in the Aleppo governorate and two in the Idlib governorate," the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides said in a bulletin.

It was established in an inquiry of the Russian side that all 11 violations were not confirmed, the center said.

"The agreement on joining the ceasefire was signed with representatives of three populated localities, Deiruna and Ain Tbarja in the Latakia governorate and Atil in the al-Suwayda governorate, in the past 24 hours. The total number of populated localities joining the ceasefire has reached 1,362," the center said.

The number of populated localities liberated by the Syrian troops from ISIL terrorists has reached 189 since January 1, 2017, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The government troops liberated 37.1 square kilometers in the past 24 hours. The government troops have liberated 3,335 square kilometers since January 1, 2017," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

ISIL is a terrorist group banned in Russia.
