Russian military provide medical aid to over 15,000 Syrian civilians since start of humanitarian operation in Syria - Russian Defense Ministry
HMEIMIM (Syria). March 21 (Interfax) - Russian military medics helped over 15,500 civilian residents since the delivery of humanitarian aid began to Syria, chief of the Center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria Lieut. Gen. Alexei Kim said.
"There are medical aid teams in the center. During each humanitarian action medics are dispatched with a humanitarian aid delivery group and provide medical aid, because there are no medical employees in many populated localities and around them," he said at a meeting with a delegation of State Duma deputies and Council of Europe parliamentarians at the Hmeimim air base.
The aid was delivered to over 15,500 people, the lieutenant-general said.
He told lawmakers that medics had also been carrying out humanitarian actions in individual localities.
Russia is vigorously rendering humanitarian aid in food rations and is providing needy people with hot meals, the Reconciliation Center head recalled. This aid has been delivered to 310 populated localities. "In all, officers of the center have provided humanitarian aid to nearly 11,000 civilians," Kim said.
