ROC head Zhukov calls for exposing those facilitating doping use

MOSCOW. March 21 (Interfax) - It is necessary to fight against those who facilitate doping use, Alexander Zhukov, the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) president and the State Duma first deputy speaker, said.

"We do not pretend that we fight against doping. It's a true pest persisting in sports. If the person who had been in charge of fight against doping, [Grigory] Rodchenkov, [former Anti-Doping Center director who subsequently become an informer of the World Anti-Doping Agency,] organized it, there's no need to be surprised about the amount of cases involving doping. We need to expose those who resort to such methods," Zhukov said during a live broadcast of the Match TV channel on Tuesday.

"It's a completely vicious philosophy alleging that one cannot achieve victory in sports without using doping, it's an absolute nonsense," he said.

"Guys achieve victories," Zhukov said.
