Russian agricultural output rises 0.4% in January-February
MOSCOW. March 22 (Interfax) - Russian agricultural output grew 0.4% year-on-year in January-February 2017 to 363.3 billion rubles, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.
Agriculture grew 3.6% in January-February 2016.
It rose 0.2% in February 2017 to 191.8 billion rubles.
Year-on-year growth in February 2016 was 3.8%.
Farms of all categories boosted production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (live weight) 2.4% to 2.1 million tonnes in January-February, including 0.1% in February alone to 1 million tonnes.
Milk production increased 1.2% to 4 million tonnes in the two months and was up 0.3% to 2 million tonnes in February.
Poultry farms produced 6.8 billion eggs in 2M, 2.1% more year-on-year. Egg production in February was flat at 3.2 billion.
All categories of agricultural producers had 18.9 million head of cattle as of the end of February (down 1.3% compared with a year earlier), including 8.3 million cows (down 1.5%), as well as 22.4 million hogs (up 1.2%) and 24.8 million sheep and goats (down 0.6%).
Household farms accounted for 43.2% of the cattle, 14.5% of the hogs and 47.4% of the sheep and goats as of the end of February, compared with 44.1%, 15.6% and 47.5% respectively a year earlier.
