Former Ukrainian deputy fuel and energy minister detained in Georgia - Ukrainian prosecutor general

KYIV. March 29 (Interfax) - Former Ukrainian Deputy Fuel and Energy Minister Ihor Kiryushyn was detained in Georgia on March 25, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said on Facebook late on Tuesday night.

"The Main Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office is holding a preliminary inquiry into activity of the deputy fuel and energy minister in the Yanukovych Cabinet, Mr. Kiryushyn, on suspicion of complicity in the embezzlement of over 2 billion hryvni worth of Ukrnafta and UkrGasVydobuvannya assets under Yanukovych's supervision," he said.

The Georgian police have put Kiryushyn under a 90-day arrest, while a decision to extradite him to Ukraine is pending, Lutsenko said.
