Total Russophobia does not meet interests of Baltic countries, especially their Russian-speaking residents - Peskov

MOSCOW. April 3 (Interfax) - The total Russophobia fostered in the Baltic republics is not consistent with the interests of those republics and their Russian-speaking residents, the Kremlin said.

"Total and hysterical Russophobia is hardly consistent with the interests of the population of those countries, let alone the interests of their Russian-speaking residents," Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday.

"Moscow has always wanted an amicable relationship with the Baltic countries," Peskov said. "We regret every Russophobic manifestation of the kind," he said.

He thinks that anti-Russian sentiment should be lowered in the Baltic republics. "Perhaps, it will take time and political will to cool down the heated anti-Russian propaganda and to let people in those countries receive objective information," the press secretary said.

As to the claims made in Lithuania that it would be able to resist for only a day or two in case of a Russian attack, Peskov said, "this is another illustrative example of Russophobia pushed for inside and outside the Baltic republics."
