Russia to reduce 2017 financing to expand nuclear generating capacity 38.6% to 22.7 bln rubles

MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - The Russian government has approved amendments to the state program on development of the nuclear power generating complex in 2012-2020, originally approved on June 2, 2014.

The March 28 Cabinet resolution containing the amendments (N344-11) has been published on the government's website.

Allocations in the unclassified section of the federal budget for program implementation total 891.9 billion rubles under the new edition of the program, roughly the same as in the previously approved version, 899.972 billion rubles.

Overall financing for the program will be cut 18% in 2017, from 86.988 billion rubles previously to 71.4 billion rubles. Financing will total 64.58 billion rubles in 2018 (compared with 66.7 billion rubles previously), 62.19 billion rubles in 2019 (57.47 billion rubles) and 62.23 billion rubles in 2020 (46.5 billion rubles).

Under the amendments, financing for the subprogram to expand nuclear power generating capacity in 2012-2020 has been reduced 15.5% to 416.2 billion rubles from 492.685 billion rubles.

Investment in the subprogram will be cut 38.6% to 22.7 billion rubles in 2017 (compared with 36.98 billion rubles previously) and total 22.058 billion rubles in 2018 (36.98 billion rubles), 20.912 billion rubles in 2019 (36.98 billion rubles) and 23.520 billion rubles in 2020 (36.98 billion rubles).

At the same time, financing for the subprogram on innovative development of the civil sector of the nuclear industry and expansion of the nuclear technology use area has been increased to 83.8 billion rubles in 2012-2020, up from 77.677 billion rubles, including 8.036 billion rubles in 2017 (70% more than the previously planned 4.568 billion rubles), 5.3 billion rubles in 2018 (3.9 billion rubles), 5.469 billion rubles in 2019 (2.8 billion rubles), and 5.5 billion rubles in 2020 (2.3 billion rubles).

Budget allocations for the program to ensure Russia's strategic presence in the Arctic has grown in the latest edition to 134.594 billion rubles from 131.4 billion rubles, including 17.4 billion rubles in 2017 (compared with 31 billion rubles previously), 17.3 billion rubles (14.8 billion rubles) in 2018, 17.1 billion rubles in 2019 (7.5 billion rubles) and 9 billion rubles in 2020 (1.6 billion rubles).
