Ukraine hopes for new level of cooperation with NATO - Groysman at meeting with Gottemoeller
KYIV. April 6 (Interfax) - Kyiv is hoping for a new level of cooperation with NATO, Ukraine's Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said at a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller during a tenth security forum in Kyiv.
"We are grateful to the alliance for the interaction, for supporting Ukraine. We want us to reach a new level of cooperation, deepen it, speed up the reform of the Ukrainian defense sector," Groysman was quoted by the Ukrainian government press office as saying.
The parties discussed specific cooperation projects between Ukraine and NATO, in particular, implementation of NATO Trust Funds in support of Ukraine, and cooperation in the framework of the Ukraine-NATO platform that studies the experience of countering hybrid warfare in Ukraine.
The premier separately emphasized the importance of cooperation aimed to increase Ukraine's defensive capabilities as an important element of deterring the aggression.
"The threats that were hypothetical have become real and now require new approaches, consultations, decision-making mechanisms in the collective security system. There is no other option but to be strong and find solutions in difficult times," Groysman said.
For her part, Gottemoeller said that today Ukraine needs bold decisions from NATO.
