Lavrov criticizes countries which bring tolerance to point of absurdity
MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - The adherence to liberal values is often brought to the point of absurdity, and certain countries are advocating hedonism and overindulgence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
"We are seriously concerned about the ongoing attempts of a narrow group of states to push for pseudo-liberal values, such as hedonism and overindulgence, with messianic fervor," Lavrov said at the Easter reception hosted by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"The notion of tolerance, which has been brought to the point of absurdity, is also alarming," he said.
In addition, Europe "has been abandoning its Christian roots," Lavrov said.
"Sometimes Christian churches are either wittingly dismantled with official approval or have their focus changed," Lavrov said.
