Zhirinovsky expresses profound solidarity with N. Korea

MOSCOW. April 18 (Interfax) - Deputies of the faction of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) are ready to go to Pyongyang to support the North Korean people, which are threatened by the United States, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the LDPR leader, said at a meeting with Minister Plenipotentiary at the North Korean Embassy to Russia Jing Jong Heb.

"We are glad that there is such a country as North Korea on the Asian continent and it is your country that the U.S. is afraid of. We request to convey our profound solidarity to the North Korean leadership; we are with you these days. If necessary, deputies of the LDPR factions will come to Pyongyang and will stay there with the people of North Korea," Zhirinovsky said.

The U.S. has been tormenting the North Korean people for over 60 years, he said. However, North Korea is successful despite the sanctions, he said.

Zhirinovsky said he believes that the U.S. is afraid of North Korea's determination to resist the American aggression and the U.S. Navy stopped and did not take any action.

"We are aware of a statement made by the new U.S. president, who is threatening to punish, take care of the problem. And if all economic measures were used, then the verb 'take care of' means the use of force. In other words, they are threatening, and we welcome courage of the North Korean leadership, which said that no threats will cause the country's domestic and foreign policy to waiver," he said.

"If the North Korean leadership wishes, we can request our competent authorities to invite a certain amount of workers, students. New academic year begins on September 1, 2017. We are ready to send delegations to North Korea and receive them here. The festival involving students and youth from all over the world will be held in Sochi, we are willing to facilitate the participation of a large delegation of the North Korean youth," Zhirinovsky said.

The LDPR is ready to prepare and send humanitarian aid, he said.

Zhirinovsky said that he will raise the issue of providing assistance to the people of North Korea with the Russian prime minister during the government report in the State Duma on Wednesday, April 19.

"We will hold the government's report tomorrow, and in my speech I will certainly urge the Russian government to make every effort to provide any assistance within its competence to the North Korean people," Zhirinovsky said.

The LDPR faction, and subsequently its voters, expresses solidarity with the people and the leadership of the North Korea, he said. Today, North Korea is showing courage of the highest level, perseverance and bravery, and "[you] are showing that you are more strong-willed than the U.S.," Zhirinovsky said.
