Russian grain exports fall 10.5% in Jan-Feb - Rosstat

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Russia exported 4.454 million tonnes of grain in January-February 2017, a year-on-year decline of 10.5%, the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said on Thursday.

Exports of wheat and meslin, a mixture of wheat and rye, fell 10.6% to 3.207 million tonnes, barley - 33.5% to 251,000 tonnes and corn - 2.6% to 938,000 tonnes.

At the same time rice exports increased 71.2% to 32,400 tonnes.

Rosstat said that grain exports fell 43.8% year-on-year in February to 1.824 million tonnes. Wheat and meslin exports fell 44.2% to 1.265 million tonnes, barley - 59.6%to 104,000 tonnes and corn - 37.4% to 432,000 tonnes.

Rice exports increased 29.9% to 18,400 tonnes.

Russia also exported 43,200 tonnes of sunflower seeds in January-February 2016, a 140% increase on 2M 2016. Exports jumped 86.7% to 26,600 tonnes in February.
