Kazakh economy to expand 3% in 2018 - economy ministry

ALMATY. April 28 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's GDP is expected to increase by 3% in 2018, Minister of National Economy Timur Suleimenov said.

"In the next three years we expect the economy to grow by 3%-3.5%," Suleimenov told journalists on the sidelines of the Investor Day Forum in Almaty on Friday.

The national economy should be expanding by 5%-5.5% for Kazakhstan to join the 30 developed economies of the world, he said.

"So far, we expect our economy to grow 3% in 2018," the minister added.

Kazakhstan's GDP will increase by 2.5% in 2017, according to the government's forecast. Last year the economy grew 1%.
