Ukrainian army uses rocket artillery for first time since start of Easter truce - DPR

DONETSK. May 4 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian military has used multiple-launch rocket systems for the first time since the start of the Easter truce, the military agency of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said.

"Seven 152mm artillery shells and five 'Grad' jet-propelled projectiles were fired at the Spartak village area and the Donetsk airport. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have used 'Grad' multiple-launch rocket systems and 152mm artillery for the first time since the Easter truce was declared on April 1," Eduard Basurin of the DPR Defense Ministry told reporters.

Basurin denied Ukrainian reports that Avdiivka had allegedly come under fire and accused the Ukrainian side of using footage dating back to 2014-2015.

"They'd better tell everyone how the Ukrainian side is refusing to give security guarantees in order to rebuild a power line near Avdiivka. But, instead of it, they are showing and saying that someone has been killed or something has been destroyed. But what year do this footage belong to - 2014 or 2015? We, on our part, have been observing the ceasefire in full," he said.

The Ukrainian side said earlier that the militia had shelled the town of Avdiivka, wounding two women.
