Putin hopes Eurasian Economic Community's Palestine decisions to positively affect bilateral trade
SOCHI. May 11 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin expects that the Eurasian Economic Commission's decision on customs preferences for Palestinian products will have a beneficial effect.
"We expect that there will also be a positive effect on our bilateral trade relations from the Eurasian Economic Union's (EAEU) decisions to include Palestine among the users of the joint system of tariff preferences," Putin said after Russian-Palestinian top-level talks on Thursday.
A whole host of Palestinian goods are being exempt from customs duties on entry to the EAEU, Putin said.
"The intergovernmental commission is working actively, and of course the biggest challenge it faces is how to increase bilateral trade, to develop the investment cooperation," Putin said.
On October 10, 2016, the EEC decisions came into effect exempting Palestinian products on the list of preferential goods from EAEU customs duties. The list includes 27 titles, mainly agricultural products, medications and furniture.
