DPRK's latest missile launch qualified as not dangerous for Russia - source

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Russia's ballistic missile early warning system (BMEWS) promptly detected yet another missile launched by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), an informed source told Interfax on Sunday.

"One of the BMEWS nodes promptly detected and tracked the missile. The launch was qualified as non-threatening to Russian territory," the source said.

Another source told Interfax that the DPRK "tested a low-power missile."

The missile launched by the DPRK on Sunday flew about 500 kilometers, according to South Korean media reports citing the country's defense ministry.

Earlier on Sunday the South Korean military said that North Korea had launched a missile of an unidentified modification.

Last week North Korea launched a medium-range ballistic missile. It flew about 700 kilometers and fell into the Sea of Japan.
