Interaction with OPCW heads on Syria dossier becoming difficult - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - The interaction between Russia and heads of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), who are politicizing the so-called Syria dossier, is becoming difficult, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Department Vladislav Antonyuk said.

"The interaction with the current OPCW leadership, including the general director of the Organization's Technical Secretariat whose tenure ends next May and who, regretfully, follows the lead of the so-called Friends of Syria, is growing complicated, to say the least," Antonyuk said at the Tuesday meeting of the Federation Council Defense and Security Committee.

"A lot is being done to end politicization of the activity of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in relation to the so-called Syrian chemical dossier and the general politicization of the activity of the OPCW, which is a strictly technical institution," he said.
