Gazprom could grow Yuzhno-Kirinskoye reserves another 265 bcm

ST. PETERSBURG. June 1 (Interfax) - Gazprom could grow gas reserves at the Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field offshore Sakhalin by another 265 billion cubic meters (bcm) as the result of drilling carried out in 2015-2016 and new drilling in the field's eastern section, Vesevlod Cherepanov, a member of Gazprom's management board, told reporters.

He said the drilling in 2015-2016 could have achieved growth of up to 205 bcm. Drilling at the new Eastern well is expected in 2017.

"We've planned growth of up to 60 bcm at the Eastern well. This is within the field's contour but on its very periphery," Cherepanov said.

"Drilling the Eastern well will give us an idea of how the strata are located to the east, what they consist of," he said.

The Yuzhno-Kirinskoye field was discovered in 2010. Its reserves have grown with each new well drilled: from 200 bcm in 2010 to 260 bcm in 2011, in 2012 - 564 bcm and by 2014 - 711.2 bcm of gas.

The field is scheduled for launch in 2021. Planned production is 21 bcm with 37 operating wells. Projected capacity is expected to be reaching in year 11 of the field's development.
